Sabbaticals -- Day 2

Today was the 2^nd of Science Eureka 2007 and we had "XplosivChemi", which is about how certain things react with one another, for example the Coke and Mentos (you can try this by adding a mentos into a bottle of Coke.It really works!!!).

I find that it was really fun and exciting. We did 4 experiments(Coke & Mentos, Fire Extinguisher[Vinegar + Baking Soda], CO₂rocket[same as the fire extinguisher but more fun!!!] and Eno salt).

For the Coke & Mentos Experiment, we were in groups of 3(except for 1 group of 4). We were each given either a bottle of Coke or Diet Coke and half a packet of Mentos. My group(Wei Xiang, Zhang Yi and me) were given a bottle of Coke. The fountain we produced was the highest!!! Yay!!! As a reward we were given each a packet of Mentos!

Then we did the Fire Extinguisher Experiment[Baking Soda & Vinegar]. We had to extinguish a fire but our group only got a "half-pass"(because some water squirted out). Soo Wee's group got a "pass".

We had a 1h10min break(from 9.35 to 10.45). The break was like so long that we had nothing better to do... I watched Soo Wee, Brolin, Ke Zheng, Jit Woon and Yi Chao played Chapteh(i didn't play because i don't know hot to...)

The we did an experiment with Eno Salt. We were only told to tryt using 1,2,3,4&5g of Eno Salt.... but our group tried 1,2,3,4,5,10(!),12(!!),20(!!!)g of Eno Salt...(one of the seniors, who happened to innocently walked by, almost got shot by the liquid which squirted out... haha :P)

We also played with a CO₂rocket which is actually a bottle filled with vinegar, which baking soda as later added, then the opening is covered by a cork. This will cause the rocket to fly.... Our group(Wei Xiang, Zhang Yi and me)'s record was the 2^nd line (though the seniors' one reached the 3^rd line...)

Today was really fun! Looking forward to tommorow's "Ernie Bernie's Rubber Duckies""Glidery Flithery" ... Hope it's fun! :)
